Garden Court uMhlanga is a Southern Sun hotel inland from the uMhlanga Rocks beachfront. It is a four minute walk from the Gateway Theatre of Shopping, about five minutes from the beach and roughly 15 minutes from King Shaka International Airport. It suits business travellers and families who want a reliable chain room and easy airport access more than a sea view.

What to expect

There are 204 rooms, some of them inter-leading, which helps families. Mnandi Restaurant serves meals through the day, with buffets and live cooking stations, and the Ukuphela Bar handles drinks. The courtyard has a heated outdoor pool and a children’s pool with a play area, and there is a gym on the fifth floor. Six meeting rooms take up to 150 delegates.

Good to know

From the airport, the route is the N2 towards Durban, then the M41 and Umhlanga Rocks Drive (M12) to Centenary Boulevard. The hotel is not on the seafront, so if waking up to the ocean matters, look at the beachfront hotels instead.
