Fairview is a Georgian homestead from 1861 in George, restored as a five-room guest house. It suits travellers who want a stopover with some character at the start or end of a Garden Route trip, in an old house rather than a chain hotel. George Airport is close, which makes it an easy first or last night.

What to expect

Each of the five rooms is different. Two have working fireplaces, one has French doors onto a lavender garden, and another has its own patio, garden and braai. A full breakfast is included, and the garden pool looks towards George Peak in the Outeniqua Mountains.

Practical details

  • Address: 36 Stander Street, George.
  • About 1.6 km from the town centre and roughly 10 km from George Airport.
  • Check-in from 3pm, check-out by 10am.

Good to know

The Outeniqua Transport Museum is under a kilometre away, and the Garden Route Botanical Garden, with its walking trails, is also close. The nearest beach is about 8 km off, and Oudtshoorn, Mossel Bay and Knysna are each around 50 minutes by car.
