Graywood Hotel

The Graywood Hotel sits on the corner of Gray and Trotter Streets in central Knysna. It has merged with the Knysna Log-Inn across the road, and the two now operate as one hotel with a single management team and booking system, the Graywood forming one wing. The draw is location: you can leave the car parked and walk to the Waterfront, restaurants and the town’s shops.

What to expect

The Graywood Wing has standard double and twin rooms. Its public areas carry a collection of original railway and steam train memorabilia, with old photographs of Knysna’s locomotive history. That collection is the wing’s main point of difference. The courtyard garden has a swimming pool set into a wooden sundeck.

Guests in the Graywood Wing use the Log-Inn Wing’s facilities across the road, including the restaurant, bar, pool area and coffee bar. The Log-Inn side also has a jacuzzi and sauna. Between the two wings the hotel has 106 rooms.

Good to know

Older listings and booking sites still show the Graywood and the Log-Inn as separate hotels, so search for the combined name when booking to avoid confusion. If you want a pool view and the railway memorabilia, ask specifically for the Graywood Wing. It is a practical, central choice rather than a secluded one. For lagoon views or forest walks you will need to drive out of town.
