Place to stay in Sabie
The Sabie Town House Guest Lodge
A stone and timber guest lodge with nine suites above the Sabie gorge, walking distance from Sabie Falls and a handy base for the Panorama Route.
The Sabie Town House is a guest lodge built from river stone and local timber, sitting above the Sabie gorge in Sabie, a small Mpumalanga forestry town on the escarpment. It is a practical base for the waterfalls and viewpoints of the Panorama Route, and for day trips towards the Kruger. Expect a house-style stay with breakfast, a pool and garden views rather than hotel formality.
What to expect
There are nine suites: seven double rooms and two family units that sleep up to five. Each has its own entrance, and most look over the garden. Breakfast is served daily, in the dining room or on the veranda above the pool. Shared spaces include a library, a lounge, a bar and a games room with a pool table, plus braai areas in the garden.
The garden runs to the edge of the gorge, so birders should keep binoculars handy, and rock hyraxes live on the slopes below.
