Place to stay in Wilderness
Cinnamon Boutique Guest House
A 13-suite guest house in Wilderness village on the Garden Route, a short walk from the beach, with a pool, bar and breakfast included.
Cinnamon is a small guest house in Wilderness village on the Garden Route, set between the Outeniqua Mountains and the sea. It is the sort of place you book for a few nights of beach walks and day trips rather than for big resort facilities. The appeal is simple: the beach is within walking distance, the rooms are comfortable, and breakfast is part of the deal.
What to expect
There are 13 suites, most with a private balcony looking towards either the mountains or the garden and pool. Rooms come with air-conditioning, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, a bar fridge, tea and coffee things and an en-suite bathroom. Two of the suites are set up for families, and one of these is wheelchair accessible.
Downstairs there are two lounges, a bar and an open-plan restaurant whose veranda overlooks the pool. Breakfast is served there each morning.

Good to know
Wilderness is about 12 km from George along the N2, so George Airport is an easy transfer, and most of the Garden Route’s main stops are within an hour’s drive. The village is small enough to walk around, which means you can leave the car at the guest house for beach days and dinners out. Sources differ on the exact distance to the sand, but it is a few hundred metres at most.
