Hampshire Hotel

The Hampshire is a hotel at 4048 Moffat Drive in Ballito Business Park, Ballito, on the KwaZulu-Natal Dolphin Coast. It isn’t a beach hotel. Willard and Salmon Bay beaches are a few minutes’ drive away, Ballito Junction mall is close by, and King Shaka International Airport is about 20 minutes away, which makes it a practical first or last night for a north coast trip, or a base for work.

What to expect

There are two main room types. The King room has one king bed and suits two people. The Queen room has two queen beds and takes up to four, so it works for a family. Both come with a flat-screen TV, air-conditioning, a work desk, a microwave, a mini fridge and an en suite bathroom, and the doors are wide enough for a wheelchair. The hotel also has mobility-friendly versions of both rooms, with a ramp-access shower, grab handles and visual siren alarms, which is still less common than it should be.

There’s a pool with loungers, a gym and an on-site restaurant. HotelFriend also lists a bar and a roof terrace.

Good to know

You’ll want a car. The mall is close, but the beaches are a short drive rather than a stroll from a business park.
