Kambro Accomodation and Farmstall
Karoo farm stop on the N12, 21 km north of Britstown, with self-catering chalets, caravan stands, a farm stall and a licensed restaurant. A handy overnight between Joburg and Cape Town.

Kambro is a farm stall with beds, 21 km north of Britstown on the N12, roughly halfway on the Kimberley route between Johannesburg and Cape Town. It is the kind of stop you plan a long drive around: pull in mid-afternoon, buy a pie, sleep, and be gone by breakfast. Overlanders on South African 4x4 forums name it as a good overnight.
What to expect
There are ten air-conditioned self-catering chalets named after Karoo bushes, from two-sleeper units up to Granaatbos, which takes six, plus a one-bedroom cottage. Each has a kitchen, TV, braai and bedding supplied, and chalet guests get homemade bread and butter brought round. Further out there is Karoorus, a three-bedroom farmhouse about 6 km from the entrance that needs a bakkie or high-clearance car. Caravanners get six grassed stands with power and their own braai.
The farm stall sells jams, rusks, quince sweets, homemade ginger beer and a freezer full of Karoo lamb and springbok. The restaurant is air-conditioned and licensed, and its pies (springbok, lamb or chicken) are the thing people pick up for the road.

Good to know
For real quiet, Kambro also runs the Waterfall Camp on the neighbouring farm 5 km away, with just two caravan stands, a donkey geyser and solar power. You need a bakkie to reach it and only one vehicle is allowed per stand. The waterfall itself only flows after decent rain, so don’t count on it in a dry year.
