Lebombo
Short answer: Lebombo border post is open 24 hours a day on the South African side (checked 7 October 2026). It crosses to Ressano Garcia in Mozambique.
What to know
The BMA ports of entry list still shows 06:00 to 00:00, but the BMA said in its Easter 2026 and festive 2025 plans that Lebombo already runs 24 hours, as it has since April 2022.
Main road crossing to Maputo on the Maputo Corridor (N4 toll road).
Heavy queues at festive season and Easter peaks.
Not yet a one-stop border post. South Africa and Mozambique are working on one (a joint facility was planned at km 7 on the South African side). Ressano Garcia upgrade works started in August 2026.
One of six ports picked in April 2026 for a public private partnership rebuild.
Bring your passport, the vehicle's registration papers and, for a hired car, the rental company's letter of authority to take it across. Check the rules for Mozambique before you go.
