uShaka Village Walk
Free open-air shopping and eating street at uShaka Marine World on the Point, linking the aquarium, water park and beach. Mostly chain restaurants and curio shops.

uShaka Village Walk is the open-air shopping and restaurant street that runs through uShaka Marine World, the aquarium and water park complex at the Point end of Durban’s beachfront. Unlike the paid attractions around it, the walk is free to enter. It is a walk in the strolling sense, not a hiking trail, and most people end up here before or after a day at Sea World or Wet ’n Wild.
What to expect
Expect outdoor gear, surf wear and curio shops rather than anything you could not find elsewhere, plus a long row of places to eat. The tenant list on uShaka’s site is heavy on familiar South African chains (Spur, Wimpy, Nando’s, John Dory’s, Steers, Milky Lane) and several of them are halaal. It is fine for a family lunch. Do not come expecting a local craft market.
The bigger reason to be here is what surrounds it. uShaka opened in April 2004 and covers about 16 hectares, with the uShaka Sea World aquarium, the Wet ’n Wild water park, a reptile section called Dangerous Creatures, the Chimp and Zee rope park and uShaka Beach with its pier.
