Naries Namakwa Retreat
A small retreat on a 6,000 ha Namaqualand farm 27 km west of Springbok, with domed mountain suites, a Cape Dutch manor house and family cottages.
Naries sits on a 6,000 ha semi-desert farm on the edge of the Spektakelberg, 27 km west of Springbok along the tarred R355 to Kleinzee. The farm is up on the escarpment, above the bends of the Spektakel Pass, with the land falling away west to the sea. It is a small place to stay and a good base for the wildflower season or for longer trips into the region.
What to expect
There are only ten units. Three are domed mountain suites set about 1 km from the main buildings, five are en-suite rooms in a Cape Dutch manor house, and two are self-catering cottages with two bedrooms each, sleeping up to four. Dinner is served in the manor house, and breakfast is offered too; the cottages have their own kitchenettes. There is a pool, gardens, braai areas and walking trails on the farm. The website announced a spa and beauty salon from 15 June 2026, so ask whether it is running.
Practical details
- Check-in from 2pm, check-out by 10am.
- Suites and manor house rooms take children aged 12 and over; all ages are welcome in the cottages.
- Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping and laundry are available, and a generator covers power cuts.
- The retreat is certified bike friendly and is a stop on the Bikamino cycle touring route, with secure bike storage.
Good to know
Day trips to the Namaqualand coast at Kleinzee are straightforward along the R355, and the longer drive up to the Richtersveld is possible too. Families with young children should book a cottage.
